Camotes 2010

My first time in Camotes Islands in the Philippines. Heard so much about this place from other people. Finally got a chance to visit the place. So far all I can say is, WOW!!!!

Sunrise on the boat ride to Camotes. Pagka lably!

The Beach at Bakhaw where we stayed.

Lake Danao group shot.

Heeeeyaaaaahhhhh!

Porpoise Gang spotted on the way home.

More info on how to get to Camotes:

Bus from North Bus Terminal to Danao port. Terminal is located near SM City Cebu just right across Macro Warehouse Club. We took the 4:00am Ceres bus which had to leave at around 5:00am because of some delays. Good thing the 6:00am ferry we were trying to catch is on a delay too. Arriving at Danao we disembarked in front of the port which is right beside the Highway, very convenient location for a port for people on a hurry travel.

The ferry crossing the island is actually a RoRo boat. An added convenience to motorists who wants to bring their vehicles to the trip to the islands and for businessmen who wants to do business in Camotes. Delivery trucks were among the passengers that day. A good day for the people of Camotes to get their goods delivered and for beach hogs like us to finally see the Island. Sunrise is about to shine and the Ferry is rolling out.

Arriving at the Island, in Consuelo Port, Poro, a number of  Habal2x(motorcycle for hire) drivers greeted us offering their services to take you to your final destination in Camotes. Some Mini Jeepneys were there to offer rides too but our group already got ourselves a deal with a local who got us a good price for a Mini Jeepney to take us to our resort and back to the port upon departure time. A very good deal because it already includes a tour of the islands, a much more convenient ride than the habal2x.

Our destination resort is the Borromeo Bahay Bakasyunan, located in Bakhaw. I should say that if you want a quite and peaceful stay in Camotes then this is your place. Unlike in Santiago Bay where it is already quite crowded, Borromeo Bahay Bakasyunan in Bakhaw is much more relaxing and calmer. For a public beach it is rather private than you expected. You can scream your lungs out on this beach and no one will bother you.
So far this is the only link I can find about this place. http://www.travelcamotes.com/files/borromeoresort.jpg

There is so much to see in Camotes and we had so little time. We only have time to tour Santiago Bay, Lake Danao and Timubo Cave. For more info on places of interest in Camotes, you can google Camotes and  get loads of info from websites and other blogs. Okay, I think I’ll end it here. To know Camotes is to experience it. Summer is fast approaching so I suggest you put Camotes on top of your summer destinations list.

Till next time Camotes!
